DARKEST AFRICA is the very first of 66 cliffhanger serials
produced by Republic Pictures. This 1936, 15 chapter
serial has famed animal trainer, CLYDE BEATTY, battling
wild animals and flying Bat-Men while searching for a
futuristic city hidden in darkest Africa. Joining Beatty

blonde sister, Valerie (ELAINE SHEPARD) is the unwilling
Goddess of the Golden Bat in the Lost City of Joba. The
evil high priest, Dagna (LUCIEN PRIVAL) controls the
flying army of Bat-Men. This two disc set brings a
digitally remastered version of this classic cliffhanger
serial produced by Republic Pictures to thrill Saturday
Matinee audiences over 70 years ago. Special effects,
models and sets are impressive for the era it was filmed
in, and the wild animal footage alone makes it a treasure,
and not to be missed. It is producedby Barney Sarecky and directed by B. Reeves Eason
and Joe Kane. Cast includes Clyde Beatty, Manuel King,
